Allergen Awareness Week 2024

The importance of having good allergen management within your organisation is CRUCIAL.  It is recommended that your staff should undertake annual training to ensure that they are confident in handling allergen information requests.

Catering and front of house staff should be able to ensure that customers who are declared food allergy sufferers are provided safe food. They should know the procedures and policies when asked to provide allergen information.  Staff should be able to respond appropriately to requests for an ‘allergen-free’ meal and know the risks of allergen cross-contamination when handling and preparing foods and how to prevent this.

The Royal Society for Public Health offer the Level 2 Award in Identifying and Controlling Food Allergy Risks. This online course will help to increase your knowledge of food allergens, the risks to people who may be harmed and how to control those risks.
